To use eLabJournal, users must first sign up to register their account. If an organization has linked a Single-Sign-On provider to eLabJournal, the user's account may automatically be created upon first login. Accounts are shared over all applications, so if users initially signed up for eLabProtocols or eLabInventory, they can easily link their existing protocols or inventory to the electronic lab notebook after upgrading to eLabJournal.
Once the user has registered and activated their account, they can log in with their credentials. Based on the user's IP address, they will be redirected to either the US or EU cloud. Enter the email address used to sign up and enter the login password. If a user's login attempt fails, they may not have been routed to the correct server for their region. For more information on how to solve this issue, please refer to the section of our documentation on the EU and US Servers.
eLabJournal also supports various federated login options, such as Active Directory (AD), Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS), or any authentication system compatible with Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).
Note: These authentication options are only supported in our Private Cloud or On-Premises installations
For academic organizations, eLabJournal also supports authentication via SURFconext. If an organization is registered at SURFconext, eLabNext can add the organization to our list of registered institutes so that users can log into eLabJournal.
Please use the organisation login option if a user's organization or institute login has been linked to our system (SSO/LDAP/AD).
Note: If an organization has a dedicated installation (Private Cloud or On-Premises) of eLabJournal, the links for account registration and login are different. Please contact eLabNext support or the organization's administrator to receive the organization-specific login URL.
