We are excited to introduce the Image Editor feature in eLabNext, designed to streamline the management and editing of images within your digital lab notebook. We focused on making annotation tools more intuitive for creating transparent shapes (rectangles/circles), arrows, straight lines, and text. Additionally, we prioritized features like cropping, saving and reopening, fine-tuning, and reverting changes to ensure a smoother user experience. This powerful tool allows users to efficiently edit, annotate, and enhance images directly within the platform, saving valuable time and eliminating the need for third-party software.
Key Features of the Image Editor:
Basic Editing Tools: Crop, rotate, and resize your images with ease to fit your documentation needs.
Annotations: Add text, arrows, or shapes to highlight important sections or details in your images. Customize the color, size, and position to suit your preferences.
Adjustments: Modify brightness, contrast, saturation, and other visual aspects to improve the clarity of your images.
Undo/Redo Functionality: Easily revert or repeat actions during editing to ensure you have full control over the final result.
Save and Version Control: Save edited images directly within your projects while maintaining a history of changes with our built-in version control system.
Supported Formats: The Image Editor supports a variety of image formats, including PNG, JPEG, and TIFF, ensuring compatibility with most lab equipment and software.
How to Use the New Image Editor:
When the new image editor is activated, you will no longer be able to create new experiment templates, text, or image sections using the legacy image editor. However, sections created and edited before the new editor is enabled will remain fully supported. Users can still edit those legacy sections. To encourage adoption of the new image editor, any copied sections—whether from an experimental template or an experiment—will prompt users to switch to the new editor.
Upload or Select an Image: Upload an image to an experiment text or image section.
Click "Edit image": Access the Image Editor by clicking the "Edit image" button (pencil icon) when hovering over the image
Make Adjustments: Use the available tools to edit and annotate your image as needed.
Save Changes: Once satisfied with your edits, click "Done" to update the image. Previous versions will be automatically stored and accessible via version control.
