Default templates are provided for frequently used scenarios to make it easier to set up common automation. These templates come with default settings and logic, allowing users to quickly implement automation without starting from scratch. Users can also customize each template to suit their specific needs by adjusting conditions, email content, and other parameters.
How to Use an Automation Template
Browse Templates:
- Navigate to the Browse Automation Templates section, where templates are organized by Automation Type on the left (e.g., Experiment, Sample, Equipment, etc).
- Each template includes a description explaining when the automation will run.
Select a Template:
- Click Use Template on the automation that best matches the needs of the automation.
- For example, select Sample Expiration Reminder if an automation to notify users when a sample’s expiration date is approaching is needed.
Review Pre-Filled Values:
- After selecting a template, default settings will automatically be applied to the automation, such as:
- Trigger: Pre-configured based on the selected template. For instance, in the Sample Expiration Reminder template, the trigger may already be set to fire a few days before the sample's expiration.
- Notification Type: Email or webhook notifications may already be set up in the template.
Customize the Template:
- Add Specific Conditions: To make the automation more specific, add conditions relevant to the intended workflow. For example, add a condition like `Sample type is Virus` to notify only for virus-type samples.
- Update Email Content: Customize the email message to include information or language specific to your organization. Users can also use Smart Values (e.g., sample name, sample expires On) to make the email content more dynamic and relevant.
Example:
- Template: Sample Expiration Reminder
- Customization: Add a condition to only trigger for "Virus" samples and modify the email text to specify the action needed for handling expired virus samples.
Save and Activate the Automation:
Once the automation template has been reviewed and customized, save the automation. Users can activate the automation in the top right corner to begin monitoring the defined conditions and sending notifications as specified.
