To further customise sample types, users can create Sample Type Sections that group related fields together within a sample form.
To do this, go to the Configuration tab and select Sample Types. Once there, click on the Edit icon to open the sample type form editor and select the Settings and Sections tab. From there, users can click on Add Section to define a section in the sample form.
The following information must be specified for each section:
- Section Name - the name of the sample type section (this will be used to label the fields in the section when adding a sample)
- Section Start - the first field in the sample type section
- Section end - the last field in the sample type section
Once sample information is added to a sample of a given type, you can effectively organise the information by displaying sample type sections as tabs.
Make Section Conditionally available
Besides the arrangement of fields, users can also use sample sections to make certain fields visible only when specific values are selected in other parts of the form. To create a conditionally visible section, select the option "Make Section conditionally visible."
To make a section visible in the sample form editor, you must first specify one or more visibility conditions that must be met. If you have set multiple conditions, you can choose to reveal the hidden section if either one or all of the conditions are met.
Both editing and removing the section along with its visibility conditions can be done from the settings, sections panel, or through the sample type field configuration panel.
Note: if conditionally visible fields in a section are set as required, this is only validated once the visibility condition has been met.
When adding a sample with conditionally visible fields, the section will only be displayed when the visibility condition is met.
