If eLabNext is used by multiple groups within an organisation, it is possible to share storage units across groups. If a storage unit is shared with a user's group, it can be found within the Inventory Browser. All samples stored in this storage unit or any of its compartments by other groups are anonymised and cannot be viewed by users in other groups. By sharing storage units, users can set up centralised locations for sample storage for multiple groups within an organisation, making them all accessible to different groups without disclosing information about the actual content.
Note: If users are members of multiple groups in which the storage unit is shared, they can change the active group to access information about other samples stored in the storage location.
Shared storage units can be accessed via the Storage Units page within the Configuration tab. Here, users can perform standard actions like reserving compartments for particular users or roles and removing a shared storage unit from their group.
Note: This option can only be activated by the organisation key user in the Organization Admin Panel.
