The Sample Dispatch feature allows users within a group to send/dispatch their samples to another group within the same organisation.
Once a sample/multiple samples are selected, users can use the Dispatch Sample button found in the samples action bar to dispatch the samples. The user must then choose which group within the organisation to dispatch the sample to, and which user within that group to assign them. There is also the option to add a note for the receiving user.
Note: Samples linked to experiments cannot be dispatched until they are removed from those experiments
Once dispatched, the sample will appear in the receiving group's Incoming Samples box on the Inventory Browser page. From here, they can either be accepted or denied.
Note: dispatched samples will appear in the sending groups' Outgoing Samples box, where the dispatch can be cancelled if not already accepted by the receiving group
The Incoming and Outgoing sample boxes contain an Audit Trail page that tracks which samples have been dispatched from/to and accepted by a group, along with the user who sent them and the user who accepted them, along with the date and time of each event.
If samples are accepted, they must be assigned a sample type and their custom fields remapped. Fields with the same name will automatically be mapped, but other fields must be mapped manually by the user.
Note: If samples are instead denied, they will be returned to the original group
Samples dispatched between groups retain their full audit trails, including the group update and field remapping events.
