When migrating from Labfolder to SciSure for Research, it is helpful to know that SciSure includes a flexible add-on system that extends core functionality.
In many cases, functionality that your team already used in Labfolder or discussed during onboarding may already be included in your SciSure setup. Some add-ons may have been pre-selected or activated as part of your organization’s initial configuration or licensing package.
Add-ons in SciSure simply provide additional capabilities where needed and can be managed through the Marketplace.
What is Marketplace ?
Scisure for Research offers a Marketplace with a wide range of powerful add-ons that can be installed to extend the functionality of Scisure for Research. The Marketplace lists all add-ons that are publicly available within the Scisure for Research platform. In addition, private add-ons created specifically for a user's system, organisation or group will also be listed in the Marketplace.

Common Scisure for Research Add-Ons
Microsoft Office Online Server
This add-on allows users to open, edit, and collaborate on Microsoft Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) directly within the ELN.
It supports:
- Editing Office documents inside experiment records
- Collaborative document work linked to ELN entries
- Seamless integration of files into research documentation
In Labfolder, Office document handling was often available as part of the ELN workflow. In SciSure for Research, this functionality is available through an add-on, which in many cases may already be enabled depending on your organization’s setup.
Note: If this feature is part of your current license or onboarding package, it will already be available in your system. If not, it can be activated by your administrator or through SciSure support.

MarvinJS Chemical Editor
With the Marvin JS add-on, users can draw and edit chemical structures directly in the ELN, including molecules and reactions through an easy-to-use interface. Users can also rotate, mirror, and view molecules in 3D for better visualization, similar to the chemical structure drawing functionality available in Labfolder.
Note: If this feature is part of your current license or onboarding package, it will already be available in your system. If not, it can be activated by your administrator or through SciSure support.

ChemAssist
ChemAssist enhances Scisure for Research for chemistry labs, offering a chemical registry, structural and complex reaction drawing, fingerprint search, and SMILES integration.
Note: If this feature is part of your current license or onboarding package, it will already be available in your system. If not, it can be activated by your administrator or through SciSure support.

What Migrating Users Should Know
For teams transitioning from Labfolder to SciSure for Research, the day-to-day experience will feel familiar, especially when working with electronic lab notebook (ELN) documentation.
SciSure for Research is designed as a modular platform, meaning that some features are provided through configurable components. In many organizations, these components are already included and activated as part of the initial setup or agreement.
As a result, most users will typically find the tools they rely on already available in their environment.
In practice, it is mainly helpful for system administrators to verify that key functionality is enabled for the team, such as:
- Editing and working with Office files directly within ELN entries (where used in existing workflows)
- Chemical structure drawing and visualization tools for chemistry-related research
- Any discipline-specific modules or integrations configured for the laboratory
- Additional workflow or system extensions set up during implementation
If something is not immediately visible, it is usually part of the same system and may simply require activation or configuration by the administrator.
Overall, the intent is to ensure a smooth transition from Labfolder, with continuity in familiar workflows and access to all necessary tools within a single, integrated research environment.
